Sycamore Live-Edge Floating Shelves

This group of Sycamore Live Edge Floating Shelves are sawn from logs that had very unusual under-bark surfaces including surface burls with a wavy curvature making for a one-of-kind live-edge. Furthermore these shelves are loaded with the awesome Sycamore figuring combined with spalting marks making for a truly unique shelf – eye catching décor accent.  
 

Currently (11/2022) we are at the beginning of this wood slab collection of which we have a limited supply. At this time we can only offer 30” & 60”W shelves with custom sizing unavailable. Shelf thickness is 2” with shelf depth between 10-14” deep due to the dramatic curvature of the edge.

ZimBoard Hardwood Shelves receive a premium Catalyzed Conversion Varnish (CCV) Finish applied by a skilled fine furniture finisher. The CCV seals the wood protecting it while it exposes/enhances the figure and color of the sycamore wood. The CCV finish is permanent and does not require re-application – most importantly it is scratch resistant and protects the wood from water marks. A CCV Finish leaves a satin-smooth textured surface – the best wood finish available.

Each shelf is routed, drilled and fitted with a HD Steel Hidden Bracket providing secure mounting and is easy to install. The bracket has fastening holes every 4” maximizing cross over of wood wall studs. Our shelves should never be installed onto paneling or sheet rock – install only onto solid wood wall studs or masonry.
